17th October 2023
Venue: TBC Central Manchester
As part of the Textile & Place 23 conference we are organising an evening event of informal short talks on Tues 17th October, venue TBC. Our intention is for the evening to provide an opportunity for PhD/PGR students and Early Career researchers working within the field of Textiles to share their work. The event will be held outside of the university at a venue in the centre of Manchester following the full day conference at Manchester School of Art. We hope that this will provide a welcome opportunity for sharing ongoing research and networking with conference delegates in a more intimate setting.
Talks should be a maximum of 10 mins long and can include slides but we welcome suggestions for alternative formats, as long as space and facilities allow. We also invite attendees of the evening to bring along samples and works in progress to share and/or demo at the event. Sample/demo pieces can be shown even if you do not wish to present a talk.
Please send expressions of interest including a short description of the research you would like to present (approx. 150 words). Please include:
-the format of your proposed talk (e.g. a 10 mins talk with slides)
-any technical requirements
-whether you would like to bring along a sample/demo piece
-if so, please provide rough dimensions and description (images would help but not essential)
Please send to Gemma Potter (g.latham@mmu.ac.uk) by Friday 8th September.
This event will be free to attend and tickets will be available by the end of September.
*Please note that you do not have to be attending the full Textile & Place conference to be eligible for this opportunity.
